What’s on your schedule?
THANKS APRIL, HELLO MAY
A huge THANK YOU to April for the “Takeover” of the MIBE Message last month. She says, “Hi, don’t forget about me, and for goodness-sake, drink plenty of water.” It was awesome to see how many of you were engaged with the weekly challenges! Going an entire week without sugary treats was a tough one for me, but I was able to prove to myself that I have the willpower to avoid the temptations, and I’m motivated to cut back on my dessert consumption! I hope you are inspired to carry a few of the healthy habits forward that served you, and continue to make a positive difference in your life.
LOOKING AHEAD
This year I have been focused on adding margin to my life. I had written about this toward the end of last year and how it was something missing from my life. As a chronic over-scheduler, I would previously pack as many meetings, calls, and appointments into my day until the white space on my weekly calendar all but disappeared. I’ve been mindful over the past few months to limit the meetings I take each day, allow more time between meetings, and prevent cramming before and after my travel and time out of the office. It hasn’t been perfect, there is still the third Wednesday of each month when I have multiple recurring meetings and go non-stop all day, but for the most part, it has been refreshing to have more space on my calendar. I’ve been able to be better prepared for the meetings I do have, be more present when the meetings are taking place, and I get to take time to reflect after the meetings on what transpired and what I will do moving forward.
This process has caused me to be very intentional about what I put on my calendar. I’m constantly checking with myself to see if the requests I get align with my core values. Do they help move me closer to achieving my big goals? Do I get fired-up with excitement thinking about it? When I look through that lens, it makes scheduling and planning a lot easier because I have clarity on saying “yes” or “no.” So, in the spirit of planning and scheduling, I am excited to announce the dates for our upcoming calendar of events at MIBE. Hopefully one or more of these have a place on your calendar, we would love to see you!
